The ISS Top Management Conference (TMC) 2016 has finally started and we hope you are ready to join us for 3 fully-packed days that will give you insights to the top trends within the Facility & Service Management industry, reported live from the key ISS experts.
Curious to learn more about this conference? Hear directly from Peter Ankerstjerne, ISS Group Chief Marketing Officer, about what to expect.
Q. For people external to the ISS organisation, the TMC might be a new discovery. Can you explain to us, what TMC is about and how the event as such has started?
TMC is the annual leadership conference, where we bring close to 450 of the most senior executives from 45 countries together to communicate and reinforce ISS Group strategy and culture, train and educate but also to improve performance and make our leaders part of something bigger than their own local organization.
Naturally, the intent is also to motivate, inspire and have fun so there are also social events and award shows in place to leverage the networking and to celebrate our heroes.
Q. Apart from being a “Top Management Conference”, what does an event like this bring to the broader organisation?
That’s a great question. In an organization with more than 504,000 employees, everything starts with leadership. So bringing the leadership closer together to share best practices, to be inspired and to discuss challenges and opportunities from across the world helps us making a such a large organization a bit smaller.
Consequently, for the broader organization the conference is a place to reinforce who we are and what we are doing, share visions but also to build a much more coherent and cohesive organizational culture.
Even though, the internet and technology is helping us making the world smaller these days – from time to time we still need human interaction and there is no better way than meeting each other physically to network, to socialize, to learn and have fun. That is, what truly builds culture and creates strong relations across boundaries.
Q.What themes are you going to discuss at this year’s TMC?
Every year, the conference is build around a theme. This year, the theme is; Excite – The ISS Way.
Since 2008, the name of our strategy has been; The ISS Way and we continue to focus on communicating and implementing this. To deliver a great service experience, as a service employee, you need to possess the capability of exciting others. Therefore, for us “Excite” is really the core of great service.
This year’s conference is taking place at Disney World in Orlando, USA. The Disney Group is really a great example of an organization, which have been excellent in working with excitement and it is no coincidence they call the Walt Disney World the “Happiest Place on Earth”. Whether it actually is the happiest place on earth, is probably in the eyes of the beholder, but the ambition and the courage to come up with such a bold statement is admirable and it certainly shows excitement.
We want to learn from this and have this kind of “excitement” travel to all of our 504.000 employees. Imagine the possibilities if we all could be just a little more excited about what we do, how we do it and why. Building this in to the purpose of every single ISS employee – that is really the leadership challenge we are facing and therefore that is the theme of this year conference.
Q. What insights can our audience and followers expect to get from this years TMC?
There will be a plenty of content to explore from this year’s TMC. Our audience can expect interviews with the ISS Top Management on topics such as Leadership, Innovation, Technology and the Future Role of Service. We are planning to have a live feed with key TMC takeaways, interviews with key note speakers and much much more.
